monthly newsletter
In order to bring information and encouragement to wide range of homeschooling families, a variety of information is included in our monthly newsletter. This includes information on activities, resources, and news that may be of interest to home educating families. Please note that while we do attempt to ensure that the items included are compatible with the Christian values of the GCHE organization, we do not sponsor or endorse every entry. We do encourage each family to explore the resources described to determine if they are appropriate for your own family. You are invited to submit items that you believe may interest other homeschooling families. We do reserve the right to refuse any submissions not in keeping with our guidelines. The Newsletter is published from September — May, with an annual subscription rate of $15.00/year for a printed postal mail copy, or $10.00/year for the e-mail version. A sample newsletter is available upon request at no charge. Issues are typically mailed by the 20th of the preceding month. Paid subscribers are also able to borrow items from the GCHE Resource Center (see below). To subscribe, please send a check to GCHE along with the newsletter subscription form. Our address is PO Box 4311, Gillette, WY 82717.
sports program
Gillette Christian Home Educators offers a variety of recreational and competitive sports opportunities for students. The programs offered vary each year, based upon the number of students signing up, budget, and coach availability. For the 2007-2008 school year, we have competitive high school girls’ volleyball and basketball teams which compete in the 1A division of the Wyoming High School Athletic Association. We also have recreational junior high recreational junior high girls’ volleyball and basketball teams which play through the Recreation Center. In the past we have also offered a girls’ 5th and 6th grade team, but that is not scheduled for this year.
For boys, GCHE does not have any teams planned at this time. However, we can make referrals to community-based programs, including a primarily homeschooled team for high school boys and 4th-6th grade boys.
Homeschooling families also meet periodically at the local Recreation Center for open gym.
